Investment Information Collaboration and Sharing new

The changes on the Web in the past two years, commonly known as Web 2.0, were mainly a geek thing to begin with. Personal spaces, social networks and bookmarking services attracted many young people and Internet geeks. The new Web 2.0 environment is more than a one-time hit. It represents changes on the Web that will probably last for years. It could also shape the way we do business online.

The characteristics of Web 2.0 services are applications presented as Web services with in-built collaboration and communication features. Knowledge made easily accessible by groups and teams and vice versa.

Groups and communities are forming online that cover industries, sectors and topics where members share their knowledge. In businesses and industries where information is key to success having the best information available at each given time is invaluable. The qualities of information created in those communities reflect the knowledge and efforts contributed by its members.

We recently found a Web service, bullpoo.com, a community where users find, share and collaborate on investment information. Users write investment commentaries, insights and forecast expectations. The Web site has many characteristics of the new Web 2.0 services such as tags, blogs and discussions, and its design is among the best we have seen.
